Chenango Canal Association, Inc.
an all-volunteer 501 (c) 3 nonprofit
Publicly encouraging research for the preservation of the canal, surrounding waters and land,
while maintaining it as both an historic and public recreation site.

The CCA envisions opening the Chenango Canal in Bouckville for navigation by kayaks and canoes.

There are few places where the canal is navigable in short sections, but there are fallen tree hazards and no boat launch areas.  CCA does not recommend people coming to the canal to boat, yet.

CCA is working with the Canal Corporation to get some help clearing the fallen trees, but as the canal in Bouclville is a NYSDEC designated trout stream, some trees would likely need to remain as trout habitat and shade.

The photo below is a CCA board member exploring options on the water and and illustrating the potential for this project.  More photos => JB on Kayak 1 600pxw
